Frequently Asked Questions:
Should I adopt one or two kits?
Adopting one ferret kit is absolutely fine, as long as you have the time to interact and play with it daily (about 4 hours or more a day). If you want your ferret to be more attached to you, a single ferret is just fine. Adopting two ferrets is fine, too! They can both bond to you, but will also have a sibling/friend to keep them company.
Do you deliver or ship?
Depends. For delivery (if you're located in Maryland or within an hour of Maryland), I can usually deliver for a small fee on certain days. If you want a ferret from my ferretry and are too far, we can arrange transport but you must cover the costs of transport. I know of a few pet transports if you need recommendations!
How should I go about spaying/neutering my ferret?
Every kit I adopt out will be fully intact and unaltered. Marshall ferrets (usually the ones you find at pet stores) are spayed/neutered at a young age. Like most animals, if you alter them young while their bodies are still developing, they will have medical issues down the line. The most common disease is called hyperadrenocorticism (adrenal disease). I recommend altering your ferret somewhere after 9-12 months (the later, the better). Instead of the common practice of neutering for animals such as cats and dogs, it is recommended that you vasectomize your hobs (male ferrets) instead of a full neuter. Another thing I highly recommend is getting a Superlorin (DES) implant that will chemically spay/neuter ferrets for a set time; this is a much safer method!
